History in Focus: Spirited beginnings for Glenwood Springs’ Star Hotel

At one time there were four saloons located on Seventh Street across from the Rio Grande Depot. Henry Bosco, an immigrant from Italy, ran a wholesale liquor business in the basement of one of the saloons. His success allowed him to build his business into the Star Hotel, completed in 1915. Today this building is occupied by Glenwood Canyon Brewery.
