Hitting the airwaves
GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colorado Glenwood Springs Summer of Jazz is receiving international exposure via the airwaves and the world wide web, as last summers concert by Marlon Jordan & His Quartet is the current feature on National Public Radios syndicated program, JazzSet with Dee Dee Bridgewater.The show began airing Thursday on public radio stations around the country, including KUVO in Denver and WWNO in New Orleans. Jordan and his band are scheduled to perform today in the WWOZ Jazz Tent, as part of the New Orleans Jazz Festival.This is coast to coast and international exposure for the Summer of Jazz and Glenwood Springs, said Summer of Jazz co-founder Robert Noone, who along with his wife and fellow co-founder Mary Noone is in New Orleans this week signing bands for this years Summer of Jazz line-up.Jordans performance at the 23rd annual Summer of Jazz last year can now be heard online at http://www.jazzset.npr.org.The show is also being broadcast (with live web streaming) on New Yorks premier jazz radio station WBGO [www.wbgo.org] at 6 p.m. Sunday, and again at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 29; as well as on New Orleans WWNO [www.wwno.org] at 7 p.m. Saturday.The 24th annual Glenwood Springs Summer of Jazz is set to kick off June 10 with Robert Glasper and his trio. The family of Rosie Ferrin has worked to clean up and make safe again the old schoolhouse in downtown New Castle. Ferrin died this summer and had owned the building that included classrooms turned into apartments for years.
