Holiday fund raises more than $5,000

The first annual GSPI/CT Holiday Fund raised $5,575 at the end of last year. The papers’ goal was $7,500. The Two Rivers Community Fund acted as its bank. All funds collected went directly to help those in need. There were no administration fees. Although the papers missed their goal, they were able to support nine organizations. Those included: LIFT UP, Advocate Safehouse, Rifle Church Group, Colorado West Substance Abuse Treatment Center, Feed My Sheep Ministry, YouthZone, Colorado Mountain College Foundation, KDNK Community Radio, and Symphony in the Valley.Next year the papers will begin their campaign in October to provide funds in time for Thanksgiving, and raise the goal to $10,000.The papers would like to thank the following people and organizations for their support: Gerry and Marja Vanderbeek, W.F. and O.J.
