Holly Days parade of lights rolls into Rifle

The “Holly Days” season has arrived in Rifle.

On Saturday, Holly Days passes through Rifle ” complete with a raffle, parade of lights, and visits from Santa ” for the eighth year in a row.

Rifle shoppers have been collecting one Holly Days ticket for every $10 they spend at 12 participating retailers in Rifle for more than a month.

This weekend, folks with tickets can enter them in a drawing for big prizes ” how does a $3,000 travel voucher with $750 spending cash, or a $1,000 student season ski package to Sunlight Mountain Resort sound?

A parade of lights will run from Second Street and Railroad Avenue to the Garfield County Fairgrounds.

Of course, Santa will be at the fairgrounds, and will likely be pretty busy. Last year, 178 kids sat on Santa’s lap during Holly Days, organizers said.

Rifle’s Centennial Committee will hold a tree-lighting at 5:30 p.m. in front of city hall. The Parade of Lights begins at 6:30 p.m., and Santa, a bake sale, and lottery drawing will follow at the Garfield County Fairgrounds.
