Homosexuals are here to stay

Dear Editor,

I read the Independent Voices on July 11 regarding same-sex marriages. I was delighted to read the four responses all in favor.

It gave me hope that the tides may be changing in Colorado, where the attitude in many counties has kept the state as a whole from adopting any gay rights legislation.

Homosexuals have been here since the beginning of mankind, and they are here to stay. They are human beings who live lives just like heterosexuals. They work, play, pay taxes, and many, just like heterosexuals, love their partners and commit to them in a lifelong relationship.

How people live and who people love are all choices to be made individually. I do agree with Mr. Doran that marriage is very special, but where does he get off telling anyone who they are allowed to marry when they fall in love?
