House OKs Sunday liquor sales

DENVER (AP) ” The Colorado House of Representatives has approved a bill that would allow liquor stores to open on Sundays.

The measure (Senate Bill 82) passed on a vote of 43-21, with a number of lawmakers objecting that it could increase alcohol abuse. It now goes back to the Senate for consideration of amendments.

Democratic Representative Judy Solano of Brighton says many people have busy schedules and would like to buy wine or beer on weekends. Sunday sales are currently barred under state law. She says other states have adopted the measure and report no problems.
