BASALT ” A man walking along the Frying Pan River in the Thomasville area spotted an ATV with a hunter pinned beneath it around 6:55 this morning.

Several agencies responded to the scene and the ATV was hoisted out of the river up a steep embankment of about 25 feet.

Helmick was said to be in good physical condition and knew the care well since he’d hunted in the region for 30 years. Cause of death is unknown pending an autopsy.
