Huntmasters for the next generation

State wildlife officials are hoping the public is eager to “invest in the next generation of hunters,” by attending a two-day Huntmaster training course in Grand Junction next month.

The Colorado Division of Wildlife is offering the course in order to certify volunteers for the Hunter Outreach Program. The training is to take place Aug. 14-15 and will cover the planning of hunts, safety and organization protocols for DOW-sponsored hunting trips.

The DOW Hunter Outreach Program teaches novice and inexperienced hunters of all ages the knowledge, skills, ethics, and traditions of hunting.

Deadline for registration for the course is Aug. 9, and applications are available on the DOW’s website,

Questions can be directed to Jim Bulger, DOW Hunter Outreach coordinator, at (303) 291-7248.
