I-70 eastbound closed for 3 hours Sunday night

Eastbound Interstate 70 out of Glenwood Springs was closed for about three hours Sunday night.

Garfield County authorities sent an alert on the shutdown at mile marker 116 shortly before 5 p.m. citing multiple accidents without providing details.

Light snow fell in the upper Roaring Fork Valley on and off Sunday. I-70 through the mountain corridor was treacherous during the evening, with several closures reported on cotrip.org, the Colorado Department of Transportation’s travel website.

Snow was forecast to continue today, with the possibility of 1-3 inches of accumulation across most of Garfield County and a risk of blowing snow in the early afternoon.
