I-70 wreck injures daughter, mom

NO NAME – A car wrecked on Interstate 70 Thursday and the occupants were injured when the driver inadvertently shifted the vehicle into reverse.

Michelle McReynolds was driving a 1995 Toyota 4Runner east at milepost 118 of I-70 at about 10:50 a.m. when she lost control due to shifting into reverse.

“Obviously cars don’t like that very much going down the highway and it caused her to lose control,” said Capt. Barry Bratt of the Colorado State Patrol.

The vehicle came to a stop in the roadway, but did not cause the highway to be shut down, Bratt said.

McReynolds, 17, and her mother, Rebecca, were transported to Valley View Hospital. The younger McReynolds was treated and released. Her mother was in good condition as of Thursday afternoon but a decision had not been made whether to release or admit her.

Both were wearing seat belts when the accident occurred, Bratt said.
