Immigrant opposes illegal immigration

Dear Editor,

I am Hispanic, I came to the United States as a legal immigrant, I am a U.S. citizen, I am a practicing Catholic, and I am against illegal immigration.

I am ashamed to say I am a Hispanic and a Catholic. Politicians are under the impression that Hispanics are in favor of illegal immigration. Why should they be? They are the ones who lose jobs to illegal aliens and have had their wages and work standards depressed. Moreover, they are discriminated against in jobs because they speak little or no Spanish.

As for the Catholic Church helping illegal aliens, it is a win-win situation for the church. Tax money has corrupted even the house of God. For every illegal alien the church helps, it gets more tax money for its charities. The church also gets grateful illegals who contribute to the Sunday collection basket. The only losers are the American taxpayers and workers.
