Editor’s note: Hip-hop group 2 Real 4 da Mind, of Boulder, is one of three acts to perform at the Zach Schwartz Benefit Concert from 7-11 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 3 at Coal Ridge High School in Peach Valley. Cost is $10 for the benefit concert and silent auction that supports a scholarship fund in Zach’s name. We felt our music spoke on real issues around the world. Our original name was 2 Real but we found that a German singer already had that name so we extended it to 2 Real 4 da Mind.What message do your songs communicate to listeners? Well, a lot of our songs speak of world issues like poverty, privilege, violence, disease and love. We also have a lot of party tracks.What’s the most challenging aspect of being a hip-hop group in Colorado? No respect! Most hip-hop fans in Colorado won’t give you the time of day if you don’t have a national name.Ever been heckled? Not really.
