Independence Pass reopens

ASPEN ” Highway 82 over Independence Pass has reopened to traffic.

The route was closed this morning while crews worked to remove a vehicle that left the roadway near the Grottos.

A pickup truck pulling a trailer loaded with a car apparently attempted to turn around between mile markers 51 and 52, near the Grottos, and got caught on the rocks on the side of the road, according to the Colorado State Patrol.

No injuries were reported, a patrol spokesperson said.

The Grottos is on the Aspen side of the pass, roughly 9 miles east of town.
