Indigo Sky presents `Daughters of the Lone Star State’

Staff Report

The Indigo Sky Theater Company will present the award winning play “Daughters of the Lone Star State” by Del Shores at 7 p.m. Friday, April 25, at the Rifle High School auditorium. A donation is requested for admission.

The production is a fund-raiser for the Rifle Animal Shelter with all proceeds going to the foster program to help feed dogs and cats and help cover medical care for animals in need. Friends of the Rifle Animal Shelter will also be raising funds by offering refreshments during intermission.

“Daughters of the Lone Star State” has been performed in many theaters around the country and uses colorful characters and humor to bring to light the damaging effects of prejudice, discrimination and racism in society. The play takes place the day before Christmas in Lowake, Texas and the Daughters of the Lone Star State are having their annual meeting. The group is dying out, literally, so this year’s effort to attract new members is all out. When “undesirables” arrive, chaos erupts.

The play is rated PG-13 due to mild language and adult content.
