International crafts sale benefits artisans

Lauren Martin

Dear Editor,

The sales results of the 16th annual Ten Thousand Villages International Craft Sale hosted by the Glenwood Mennonite Church was $18,517 before expenses of advertising, stamps, photocopying, etc. No sale proceeds are retained by the church for our budget operation. This amount translates into financial support for approximately 14 artisans for one year. While the cost of living in individual countries and situations may vary considerably, the results of our sale have the equivalent of benefiting 14 villages in a tangible way. Thanks to all who supported the craft sale, the global village is healthier, stronger and more stable.
