Intersection at Eighth and Midland reopens

chyrise harrisPost Independent Staff

Don’t get too excited. The intersection at 8th and Midland reopened to travel between West Glenwood and downtown Friday night, but access to Midland south of the intersection remains closed.Travelers can now follow a short detour through the construction zone, similar to last week’s route when Midland opened. The project’s contractor accelerated work this week, allowing the detour, originally expected to remain closed for two additional days next week, to reopen. Travelers can expect to use this route for about three weeks.Travelers should note that additional closures in town will require alternate routes as well. Advancing to phase two of the exit 114 roundabouts project, the eastbound ramp onto Interstate 70 will remain closed for the next three weeks. Travelers needing to access eastbound I-70 will be detoured by Highway 6 to the 116 exit. The westbound on-ramp and both off-ramps at exit 114 will be open to traffic during the construction period.
