Interstate 70 reopens near New Castle after fatal crash

Update: Interstate 70 westbound has reopened near New Castle after a fatal crash involving two vehicles that left three people dead on Tuesday, according to Colorado State Patrol.
The crash occurred at mile marker 106, east of New Castle, with troopers responding at 10:19 a.m. CSP has not released details on how the crash happened or which parties were in which vehicle. The CSP Public Affairs office said further details are expected to be released Tuesday evening.
The Garfield County Emergency Alert System reported the road reopened at 3:49 p.m.

Troopers responded to the scene at 10:19 a.m. Tuesday. Three people were killed in the crash, CSP confirmed. It’s unclear which parties were in which vehicle or if there were any survivors. The CSP Public Affairs office said further details are expected to be released Tuesday evening.
The Garfield County Emergency Alert System first reported the closure at mile marker 109 near Canyon Creek, but CSP clarified the crash is at mile marker 106, just east of New Castle.
