Iris Roberta Rector

Iris Roberta Rector of Oxnard, Calif., sister of Glenwood Springs resident Stanley Dodson, died Monday, March 15, 2004, in Oxnard. She was 92.A memorial service was held April 5 at Burbank United Methodist Church in Burbank, Calif. Burial followed at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Burbank.Mrs. Rector was born June 9, 1911, in Hutchinson, Kan., to Gladys Arlene Stanley and James Leroy Dodson. Her father owned the Dodson & Cowden Cash & Carry Mercantile store in Silt.She spent her childhood in Silt and graduated from Silt High School in 1929. She attended Kansas State University for two years.She married Lawrence V. Rector in 1931 in Silt. He preceded her in death in 1995.Mrs. Rector was a homemaker. She lived in Silt 18 years and in Burbank, Calif., for 52 years.She was a member of the Burbank United Methodist Church and other civic organizations.She enjoyed music, playing the piano and horseback riding.Mrs. Rector is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Larry and Debi Rector, and Jim and Cindy Rector; by a brother, Stanley Leroy Dodson of Glenwood Springs; by granddaughters Michelle Costanzo and Stacey Rector; by great-granddaughters Brittany and Clarissa Costanzo; and by many friends.Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, California Central Coast Chapter, 1339 Del Norte Road, Camarillo, CA 93010.
