Irma Louise Lane Gehrke

Irma Louise Lane Gehrke died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, at Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale. She was 93.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 14, at Mountain Valley Lutheran Church, 802 Brush Creek Terrace in Eagle. Her cremains will be interred in New Berlin, Wis., next to her husband and mother, in April.

She was born Dec. 18, 1910, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Clara and Joseph Lane.

She married Charles Paul Gehrke on June 26, 1927.

She lived in Wisconsin, Ohio, California, Arizona, Texas and Colorado.

Mrs. Gehrke loved to do crafts, paint, dance, play cards, bowl, pitch horseshoes, play bingo and travel. In later life she enjoyed the activities of the senior centers in the communities where she lived or visited.

Her Lutheran faith carried her through the long life she enjoyed.

She was preceded in death by her husband; by a son, Charles Kenneth Gehrke; and by two brothers and a grandson.

Mrs. Gehrke is survived by daughters Ione Pinsky of Woodlands, Texas, and Ileen “Terry” Schiessl of Eagle; by nine grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren; and by many nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Mountain Valley Lutheran Church or to Hospice of the Roaring Fork Valley.
