Israel gets more U.S. aid than Afghanistan
Dear Editor,
The United States gives Israel about $3 billion in aid, most of which goes for weapons. As a result of the war with Iraq, Israel requested $12 billion in loan guarantees. President Bush’s $74.7 billion package to pay for the war with Iraq includes a $1 billion grant and $9 billion in loan guarantees for Israel, while only $435 million is to go to Afghanistan.
