Issues-and-candidate forum tonight at Rifle City Hall

RIFLE – A November ballot-issues forum will be held tonight at Rifle City Hall informing the public on the pros and cons of the issues and getting a look at the local candidates. The forum begins at 7 p.m. and the event is open to the public.”We are putting out the word to inform people about the ballot issues,” said Rifle Chamber Board of Directors President Liz Lippitt. “We are expecting a good turnout, but space is limited.”The forum is expected to run two to three hours due to the number of issues and discussion. Each person will be allowed a two-minute opening statement, a short question and answer period on the issue, and a two-minute closing statement.”The questions are directly from the chamber members,” Lippitt said. “We had people send in their questions to use in the forum.”Ron Milhorn from KMTS, will moderate the forum.Upcomingn Glenwood Springs candidate’s forum will be held 7 p.m. Oct. 17 at City HallIssuesn Term limitsn 1-cent tax extensionn RFTA, transportation taxn School Districts Re-2 and Garfield 16 ballot issuesn Rifle Library ballot issuesParticipantsn County Surveyor – Incumbent Scott Aibner vs. David Nicholsonn County Assessor – Incumbent Shannon Hurst vs. John Gormann County Treasurer – Incumbent Georgia Chamberlain vs. Gala Ivien County Clerk and Recorder – Marian Clayton vs. Jean Albericon County Commissioner – Incumbent Trési Houpt vs. Steve Reynolds
