It’s About Time feature photo: Grand Avenue Suicide Ride

The early part of the 20th century in Glenwood Springs saw the annual Basalt-to-Glenwood bicycle race and side attractions, including Denver policeman and bicycle stuntman Amos Hughes' famous "Suicide Ride" 80-foot ramp, which was set up at the corner of Eighth Street and Grand Avenue as part of the day's events. There were also bands, a baseball game, a greased pig competition and Fat Man's Race.
