It’s on: Loveland to open for ski season Sunday

The Associated Press

GEORGETOWN – Loveland Ski Area plans to open for the season Sunday.

This is the second year in a row that Loveland will be the first Colorado resort to open for the season.

In 2009, Loveland opened on Oct. 7. Business operations director Rob Goodell says warm weather delayed the opening this year.

A mile-long top-to-bottom run, covering 1,000 vertical feet will be open Sunday, and the resort plans to be open seven days a week.

Sunday River in Maine opened for the season Friday but wasn’t planning to be open on weekdays yet. Timberline Lodge and Ski Area in Oregon started its season Oct. 1, but lifts are running only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays through October, weather permitting.
