Jack E. Orlosky

Jack E. Orlosky, 81, of Albany, Georgia, passed away at his home March 8, 2006.Orlosky was born Jan. 24, 1925 in Pueblo, to Charles and Marjorie Orlosky. Orlosky was a graduate of Mesa State and the Colorado School of Fine Arts. He served in the U.S. Navy and received an honorable discharge. He was well known to the Glenwood and Aspen valleys, spending most of his time in Marble. He owned The Goldpan Marble Gallery in Marble for more than 30 years. Orlosky was an accomplished artist who specialized in pottery early in his career, later returning to sculpture. He focused on wildlife native to his beloved Colorado mountains. Many of his pieces are displayed in offices around the country, and can still be seen a Amelia’s Market in Albany. He also owned galleries in Sedona, Ariz.Orlosky was an accomplished outdoorsmen and was a professional fly fisherman. His activities in Gunnison County included a period where he served as a judge in Marble.Orlosky is survived by daughter Patricia Taylor; son Steven Shiell; grandsons Todd Romero and Ryan Shiell; granddaughter Julie Shiell; great-granddaughter Taylor Dickson; and great-grandson Stephen Dickson, all of Colorado. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Helen G. Orlosky; and son, Michael Shiell. Memorial services will be announced at a later date.
