Jack Edward Ross

Jack Ross passed away on July 13, 2006. He was 65.Jack was born on Nov. 24, 1940, in Kiowi, S.C. He worked many years as an iron worker. He married Bertha Kirksey in 1972, and they moved to Parachute in 1974. He worked at Eames Cherry Orchard. They opened up the Valley Cafe in Parachute in 1981, during the oil shale boom. They divorced.He later married Janet Dyer on June 21, 1997. He is survived by his wife, Janet; daughter Brenda (Dan) Locker; grandchildren Clint and Clay Pontius; stepdaughters Roanna (Dale) Newby and Melody Hodson; stepsons Del (Cathy) Dyer and Paul Dyer; and stepgrandchildren David, Maylee, Brandi, Melody, Erin and Matthew.A tribute to his life and gathering of friends and family will be held at 1 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Grand Valley Pub and Grille, 101 Cardinal Way in Parachute. Everyone who knew Jack is welcome to attend.
