James Alvin Waters

James Alvin Waters passed away May 27, 2005, in Rifle. He was 90 years old.James was born Nov. 24, 1914, to James H. and Lillie Mae (Hinton) Waters in Hall Summit, La. James married Sophia Jabroski in Wheeling, Va., on July 29, 1942.He was a resident of Rifle and Grand Junction for the last seven years.He was a Mason, Shriner and a member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilot’s Association. He was a superintendent for Combustion Engineering.James loved to fly, and owned five airplanes in his lifetime. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.The highlights of his life were his two grandchildren, Jennifer and Mike.He retired in San Antonio, and lived there for 25 years, until his health started to fail. James moved to Grand Junction after the loss of his wife. Then he moved to Rifle to be close to his daughter and family.Survivors include his daughter Darlene (John) Skellion, of Rifle; sister Corean (Richard) Klotz, of Sylacariga, Ala.; grandchildren Jennifer and Mike Skellion, of Rifle; and two great-grandchildren.He was preceded in death by his wife, Sophia, and brothers Roy and Talton Waters.No services are scheduled at this time.Rifle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
