James Gilbert McIntire

James Gilbert McIntire, 59, succumbed to a brain tumor Oct. 5, 2008, at the Veteran’s Administration Medical Center in Grand Junction.
He was born Oct. 8, 1948, in Iowa City, Iowa, to William John and Billie Beth Watson-McIntire.
Jim served in the U.S. Navy from 1967-1971 and served through six campaigns in the Mekong Delta Region of South Vietnam. He was a heavily decorated soldier, a U.S. Navy SEAL and earned the Medal of Vietnam.
After the war, he was a Kansas City Police Officer.
He was a carpenter and plumber in the Western Slope of Colorado for 20 years.
Survivors include his father; sister Ann Paul of Denver; daughter Stacie McIntire of Lake Tahoe, Calif.; sons Gavin and Colin McIntire of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren; and the very loving family of Nathan B. King of New Castle.
A military service, including the Grand Junction Honor Guard, will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 1, at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction.
