James Guadnola passed away Aug. 31, 2007, in Grand Junction.
He was born Aug. 3, 1913, in Glenwood Springs, the son of Italian immigrants.
James married Winnie Bair in 1934, and together they raised eight children.
He worked as foreman for the Civilian Conservation Corps before moving to Grand Junction. He served several years as postmaster for Grand Junction, and was Grand Junction’s last presidential appointment to the position.
He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Grand Junction.
James will be remembered for his integrity, indomitable work ethic, his sharp wit and generosity. He possessed a great love for family, dancing, music, cooking and gardening.
He is survived by sister Patsy Guadnola of Glenwood Springs; sons John Guadnola of Tacoma, Wash., and David Guadnola of Denver; daughters Margaret Crouch of Nairobi, Kenya, Marti Guadnola of Denver, and Susan Mudon of Fruita; 13 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife; daughters Mary Ellen Guadnola and Elizabeth Orvis; and son James Guadnola Jr.
James donated his body to science.
A memorial mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 8, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Glenwood Springs.
