James (Jim) L. Andre passed away peacefully Oct. 13, 2011 after a long and brave battle with cancer. He will be greatly missed.Jim was born in Denver, Colo. on June 11, 1934. He attended school then the Colorado School of Mines until he enlisted for four years with the U.S. Coast Guard during the Korean War. He was discharged with honors.In 1959, Jim married his “Southern Belle” wife, Joann. They moved from Denver to West Glenwood Springs in 1965 after he left his job at the Martin-Marietta Company to own and operate Andre’s Pizzeria & Ristorante for the next 32 years. In the 1970s, Jim pursued his love for flying and teaching with Andre’s Aviation. From 1997 until the present, Jim remained active as CEO of Somethin’ Sweet Candy Plus! in West Glenwood.Jim is survived by his best friend and loving wife of 52 years, Joann; Brother: Robert (LaVica) Andre; Aunt: Martha Callinicos; Son: Tim (Tina) Andre; Daughter: Tami (Keith) Slater; Grandchildren: James Andre; Christi (Christopher) Lechuga; Rusty Slater (Leigh Rankin); Great-grandson: Aidan Rankin.A service was held Oct. 15, 2011 at Rosebud Cemetery.
