Jerimiah "Jerry" Urban

Jerimiah “Jerry” Urban of Rifle died Tuesday, Jan. 28, 2003, at his home. He was 61.

He was born March 26, 1941, in Rifle to Emelie and Manuel Urban. He grew up in Rifle and attended Rifle schools.

He married Jackie Harris on May 22, 1962, in Grand Junction.



As a young man, he worked in sheepherding, and later worked in a tire shop, in construction and in maintenance at Wal-Mart.

He belonged to the Church of God of Prophecy in Rifle, and a disability group called C.C.D.C.



Mr. Urban was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoyed watching football, and was a great storyteller.

He is survived by his wife, Jackie Urban of Rifle; by sons and daughter-in-law Randall and Cathy Urban of Rifle, and Manuel Todd Urban of Aurora; by a daughter, Catherine Reed of Rifle; by his mother, Emelie Urban; by sisters and brothers-in-law Ramona Nichols of Evanston, Wyo., Patty Lopez of Thornton, Maxine and Frank Romero of Rifle, and Ruth and Kenji Wakayama of Fukuoka, Japan; and by four grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 31, at the Rifle Funeral Home Chapel, 1400 Access Road, in Rifle.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 1, at the Church of the Open Door, 1420 Access Road, Rifle, with the Rev. Mike Arnold officiating.

Rifle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
