Jerry Lee Hartman, 62, of Marble, passed away April 14, 2009.

Jerry was born Sept. 27, 1946, in Glendale, Calif., to Gerald Lloyd and Dixie Lee (Hartley) Hartman. Jerry graduated from El Segundo High School in 1964.

He left his family and friends and moved to Aspen in 1969, fulfilling his dream of the life he wanted to live. He loved the ocean, but the mountains were his life. He was a carpenter by trade, and his love showed in his work. He would never take full credit for any project, but contributed to its building. He helped build the Aspen Business Center, and he worked on a lot of houses and businesses that showed his talent as a craftsman.

He was so proud of his sons Kevin, Corey and Tyler, the lights of his life. He taught his sons love of life, and love of the land, and to appreciate it. He was their Scoutmaster and shared his love of the mountain life. Being an Eagle Scout was important to him. Corey and Tyler were Eagle Scouts. Kevin joined the Army and served in Iraq for his country, and Jerry was very proud of them. He loved his German shorthair hunting dogs. Max was his best buddy. Geoboh won awards, and he was training two more to be their best.

Jerry is survived by his father; wife Diann, the love of his life; and his sons, all of whom were with him when he passed; brother Jim; sister Melinda; a niece and three nephews; and many cousins, who all shared in the celebration of his life.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

Jerry will be missed by many; but his wife, sons and his work will be his legacy.
