Jimmy Mac Sills of Glenwood Springs died at his home on Thursday, June 11, 2009. Jimmy, aka “Papa,” passed away after a long battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. He was 64.
Jimmy was born Sept. 12, 1944, in Tucumcari, N.M., to Jack B. Sills and Estellene (Newby) Sills.
On April 23, 1966, Jimmy married Sue Lang in Las Vegas.
He is best known for the love he had for his family and spoiling his grandkids. Papa was not only there for his family but anyone who needed his words of wisdom.
He worked as a plumber and land developer, and served in the United States Air Force.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Sue Sills; son Jack B. Sills; daughters Shelli Sills Caple and Shana Musich, and son-in-law Noel Musich; brothers Ronnie Sills and Newby Sills; and four grandchildren, Colby Caple, Kenzi Caple, Harlee Gonzales and Shane Musich.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Estellene Sills, and his brother Jack R. Sills.
There will be a celebration of Jimmy’s life at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 17, at the Little Red School House at Canyon Creek in Glenwood Springs (rain or shine, bring an umbrella).
“Death leaves a heartache, No one can heal; Love leaves a memory, No one can steal.”
In lieu of flowers, the Sills family suggests donations to the Hospice of the Valley, P.O. Box 3768, Basalt CO, 81621, in memory of Jimmy Sills.
