Jo Ann WelkerMarch 30, 1949 – October 17, 2004

Post Independent Writer

Jo Ann Welker gently left this earth on Sunday, Oct. 17, after a valiant battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her husband, Jim, and her sons, Justin and Ethan. The daughter of Christopher and Frances (Gianelli) Passero, she was born March 30, 1949, in Torrance, Calif. Jo Ann and Jim moved to Rifle in December 2003 from Oceanside, Calif. Already wanting to be closer to their sons, the move was ultimately decided by the arrival of their first grandchild, Hannah Grace. Jo Ann’s legacy, besides her beautiful family, was her ability to love sincerely and unconditionally. The light of her spirit remains a beacon of hope and inspiration to the countless lives she touched. She is survived by her husband, Jim; sons Justin, of Boulder, and Ethan (and Misti), of Longmont; and granddaughter Hannah Grace, of Longmont. At a time to be announced, celebrations of her life will be held in California and Colorado. It was Jo Ann’s wish that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Denver Chapter of the American Lung Association. Should you wish to donate, please make the check payable to American Lung Association, in memory of Jo Ann Welker, 1600 Race St., Denver, CO 80206.It was Jo Ann’s wish that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Denver Chapter of the American Lung Association.
