Joan E. Brady

Joan E. Brady, 72, passed away Aug. 14, 2008. Joan was born on April 28, 1936, in Cheraw, to Mr. and Mrs. Vanus Basinger. She grew up alongside her eight brothers and sisters. She married her soulmate, Grant Brady Sr., on Jan. 28, 1956, in Las Vegas. Throughout the 37 years of marriage they shared, they had five children.She enjoyed going for walks with her beloved dog, Pest, and playing cards. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a resident of Glenwood Springs for 47 years. She suffered for many years from Alzheimer’s disease. She is extremely loved and will be immensely missed. Her family will forever remember all that she did and all that she was. She is survived by children Grant Jr. of Rifle, Joan (Mike) of Basalt, Ed (Kathy) of Hayden, Christine of Glenwood Springs, and Will (Joyce) of Martinsburg, W.V.; grandchildren Justin, Breann (Michael), Scott and Cody, Shane and Brandon, and Jake; and great-grandchildren Brady and Kaylee. She was preceded in death by her husband.In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Association to help aid in finding a cure for this detrimental disease. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 21, at the LDS Church in Glenwood Springs. Interment will be in the Rosebud Cemetery alongside her husband.
