Joan Juanita Gilbertson

Joan Juanita Gilbertson of Silt died Friday, March 12, 2004, at her home. She was 71.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 16, at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Chapel, 405 W. 7th St. in Glenwood Springs, with the Rev. Jim Brown officiating. Burial will be at Rosebud Cemetery in Glenwood Springs.

She was born July 5, 1932, in Denver to Helen Ritchey and Raymond Cothran. She spent her childhood in Copper Spur.



She married Jack Gilbertson on Dec. 22, 1973, in Carbondale. He survives.

She was a longtime resident of Colorado.



She worked as a baby-sitter.

She was a member of Assembly of God in Glenwood Springs.

She enjoyed crocheting, collecting old bottles, and taking photos. She loved children. Her husband said, “She had simple ways with the wisdom of ages” and “She loved others as Christ loves us.”

She was preceded in death by a sister, Darlene Rogers, and a brother, Bob Cothran.

Mrs. Gilbertson is survived by her husband Jack, of Silt; by a daughter and son-in-law Marti and Wayne Whitman of Rifle; by a brother and sister-in-law Arnold and Retta Cothran of Colorado; by sister-in-law Caroline Cothran of Battlement Mesa; by a sister and brother-in-law Gloria and Andy Gustafson of Clifton; by niece June Pinkerton and her husband David; and by grandchildren Jessica and David.

Farnum-Holt Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
