John J. Acke

John J. Acke of Missouri Heights died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2003, from lung cancer. He was 61.

He was born Jan. 7, 1942, in Moline, Ill., to John and Florence Vandenberg Acke.

Mr. Acke worked as a plumbing contractor and lived in the Roaring Fork Valley for the past 20 years.



He lived life to the fullest, and enjoyed traveling with family and friends, riding his Goldwing motorcycle and fishing at Lake Powell. He dearly loved his pets.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Acke.



Mr. Acke is survived by his parents, John and Florence Acke of Clinton, Iowa; by his wife, Sherry Acke of Missouri Heights; by sons Jeff Acke and Scott Acke, both of Grand Junction; by a sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Dave Romont of Clinton, Iowa; by grandchildren Chantelle and Grace Acke of Erie, Pa., and Siera and Amanda Acke of Parachute; by a niece, Lori Romont of Denver; and by nephews Steve Romont of Iowa and Mike Romont of Georgia.
