Joyce Rankin named to state board of ed

Joyce Rankin of Carbondale will join the Colorado Board of Education, Frieda Wallison, chair of the Colorado 3rd Congressional District Republican Central Committee, announced.

The seat was recently vacated by the resignation of Marcia Neal. A 13-member vacancy committee of the 3rd Congressional District Republican Central Committee made the appointment.

Joyce Rankin, married to state Rep. Bob Rankin and acting as his aide, has an extensive background in educational matters, having been both a teacher and principal in public schools.

She is a graduate of Michigan State University and holds a master’s degree in education from California State University at San Jose.

Rankin plans to run in the 2016 general election to retain her seat on the state board, a news release from Wallison said.
