Julian Jacobi

Julian Jacobi, of Glenwood Springs, Colo., died Monday, April 8, 2002, at the State Veterans Nursing Home in Rifle. He was 82.

Mr. Jacobi was born Feb. 6, 1920, in Helena, Okla., to Herbert and Clara Belknap Jacobi. He was raised in Marietta, Okla., and graduated from Marietta High School. He also earned a masters degree from the University of Denver.

He served as a pilot in the Pacific and European theaters in World War II.



Mr. Jacobi married his wife, Sheila, on Nov. 5, 1955, at Raton, N.M.

They have lived in the Roaring Fork Valley for the past 25 years.



He is survived by: wife Sheila Jacobi of Glenwood Springs; sons and daughters-in-law Karl Jacobi, Philip and Cheryl Jacobi, Paul and Manuela Jacobi and Steven and Annette Jacobi; daughter and son-in-law Claire and Joseph Legg; brother Richard Jacobi; sisters Dorothy, Marcella and Louise; and four grandchildren.

Cremation has occurred.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 12, at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church in Glenwood Springs, with Father Bill Smith officiating.

Rifle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer’s organizations.
