Kay Vasilakis passes away

Beloved community volunteer and well-known Post Independent columnist Kay Vasilakis died at her home in Rifle Thursday morning. Vasilakis, who lived in Rifle but spent years living in New Castle and Glenwood Springs, penned the Nonprofit Spotlight and New Castle News columns, and worked for several years as the Post Independent’s Community Editor.

Vasilakis served in a variety of community leadership positions, and will be dearly missed. A formal obituary and memorial feature will be published on Saturday or Sunday.
