Kelly Bruce Gilstrap

Kelly Bruce Gilstrap, 50, of Rifle, died Tuesday in an accident in Grand Junction.

Kelly was born May 2, 1955, in Glenwood Springs, the second son born to Cecyl Bea (Sneider) and Richard Gilstrap. The Gilstrap family has resided in Glenwood Springs and the surrounding area for generations.

Kelly attended the University of Denver and was awarded degrees from Fort Lewis College and the Colorado Institute of Art.



Kelly married the love of his life, Jo-elizabeth Dunsmoor, on June 22, 1991, in Denver. They had two daughters, Anna, 5, and Rachael, 2.

His daughters and Jo were the focus of his faith in life. Kelly actively participated in the spiritual life of the Rocky Mountain Baptist Church of Rifle. He displayed his faith in action through his efforts in the family business.



He is survived by his wife and daughters; his father and his father’s wife, Evelyn; his adoptive mother, Lois; brother Keith; sister Kathleen; in-laws Mr. and Mrs. John A. Dunsmoor; and brothers-in-law John and Jim.

Preceding Kelly in passing were his mother, and an older sister died at birth.

Services will take place at noon Saturday at Rocky Mountain Baptist Church in Rifle. Interment will be at a private family service on Monday morning in Glenwood Springs.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to an education fund for his children in memory of Kelly Gilstrap C/O U.S. Bank in Glenwood Springs.
