Kenneth Charles Hubbs died March 15, 2011 at Colorado State Veterans Nursing Home in Rifle.Ken was born in Smithtown, NY on March 27, 1925 to Kenneth F. Hubbs & Kathrine (Haller) Hubbs. Ken graduated from Lynbrook High School in 1943.Ken served in the Army during WWII from August 1943 to February 1946. He was with Company B 1304 Engineer Battalion as a Demolitions Specialist in the China, India, Burma Theatre.Ken married Martha Opdycke on July 20, 1959 in Boulder, CO. The couple had two children, Katrin & Charles.Ken worked for IMB in Boulder, retiring May 29, 1987.Ken & Martha moved from Boulder to Rifle in 1993 & then to Battlement Mesa in 1997. He was a member of the All Saints Episcopal Church in Battlement Mesa.Ken is survived by his wife, Martha; daughter, Katrin (Larry) of Rifle; son, Charles (Kimberly) of Grand Junction; grandson Harry Cole of Rifle; and sister Jean Rehauh of Lake Wales, Fl.He was preceded in death by his parents.A memorial service will be announced at a later day.Ken was a loving husband, father, grandfather & brother. We will miss him.
