Kiwanis collects food for LIFT-UP

Dear Editor,

On Nov. 9, the Kiwanis Club of Grand Valley/Parachute sent over 30 volunteers out in the rain to pick up all food donations set out by residents in Parachute and Battlement Mesa. These food donations were delivered to the Parachute office of LIFT-UP and filled the food pantry. We even had two pickup truck loads to take to the store room at American Soda.

Due to all those who so generously gave, our residents who find themselves in need in this coming year will now be able to put food on their table. Last year Parachute LIFT-UP served 2,196 persons. These food donations will not only cover the upcoming holidays but should last well into 2003 when our annual food drive will again take place in November. Thank-you all and a very Happy Holiday.
