Lanny Claude Schaffer

Lanny Claude Schaffer, 58, of Castle Rock, died Aug. 11, 2007.He was born Feb. 27, 1949, in Rifle, to Theodore and Fay Jean Schaffer. He was a resident of Grand Valley and Parachute, and lived in Castle Rock the last nine years. Lanny enjoyed hunting with his brothers, fishing, gardening, woodworking, going to Blackhawk to gamble, and he liked to tell a story or two. He is survived by daughters Erin Schaffer of Castle Rock and Ashley McQuiston of Paonia; brothers Alan Schaffer, Ted Schaffer of Parachute, John Schaffer of Billings Montana; and sister Elaine (Russel) of Craig.He was preceded in death by his mother and father; daughter Michelle and sister Janet Penoyer.A funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Aug. 21, at the Methodist Church in Parachute. Interment will be held at Battlement Mesa Cemetery. The family asks that memorials be sent to the Disabled Veterans.
