Larry Jack Lewis

Larry Jack Lewis of Carbondale died on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2004, in Boulder after a lengthy illness. He was 65.

He was born in Greeley on May 16, 1938. He grew up in Lafayette, where he graduated from high school in 1956.

He worked at his father’s dairy, the Home Dairy, during his school years, and enjoyed raising animals and riding horses.

He moved to the Roaring Fork Valley 20 years ago and has lived in Snowmass, Peach Valley, Redstone and Carbondale. He loved the mountains and nature.

For more than 40 years, he worked in the heating and air conditioning business. He helped restore the Hotel Jerome in Aspen. He especially enjoyed working at Alpine Air in Carbondale and had many friends in the area.

He was preceded in death by his mother, La Vern Lewis of Canyon Creek.

He is survived by his father, George “Nip” Lewis, of Rifle; a brother, Gary Lewis, of Dacono; a sister and brother in law, Gayle and Wayne Ritari of Redstone; sons and daughter-in-law Alan and Barb Lewis of Lafayette, and Johnny Lewis of Broomfield; daughters and sons-in-law Denise and Jon McComb of Denver, Angela and Kyle Knight of Broomfield, and Tony and Camille Lewis of Montrose; and by six grandchildren and one great-grandson.

A memorial is being held today in Lafayette.
