Laura Johanna (Behrends) Davis
Laura Johanna (Behrends) Davis of Glenwood Springs died Friday, March 8, 2002, in Glenwood Springs, Co. She was 96.
Mrs. Davis was born on April 6, 1905, in Sterling, Neb., to Egbert and Margaret (Stindt) Behrends. She attended high school in Arriba, Colo., and graduated in 1922.
She married Edward Rudy in 1922, and they had two daughters and a son. He died in 1930.
She married Lawrence Davis in 1933. They had one daughter. They lived on a farm near Arriba.
Mrs. Davis was active in the Congregational Church and Arriba school activities and was a Girl Scout leader. She loved the outdoors; working in her yard and caring for her flower and vegetable gardens was always a very important part of her day. She enjoyed cooking, reading, sewing, crocheting, and quilting.
The Davises retired from the farm and moved to Limon in 1977. In 1986 they moved to Grand Junction.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Lawrence; grandsons Doyle Lee and Kenneth Ray Cofer; four sisters and a brother.
She is survived by daughters and sons-in-law Burdella Bea and Ronald Cofer of Denver, Margaret Elizabeth Palermo of Prescott Valley, Ariz., Laura Louann and Harlan Spencer of Glenwood Springs; by a son, Roland R. Rudy of Arriba; and by nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
A private family service will be held at the Arriba Cemetery.
