Lawrence Dean Stone

Lawrence Dean Stone of Parachute died Monday, Feb. 9, 2004, in Rifle. He was 76.

Mr. Stone was born Nov. 24, 1927, in Flower Field, Neb., to Mary Longstreth and Forest Lloyd Stone.



He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He married Fern Allen on Dec. 24, 1951.



Mr. Stone worked as a systems analyst for Gates Rubber Co. in Denver.

He has lived in Parachute for the past 15 years.

Mr. Stone loved fishing and outdoor activities. He was very involved in the senior citizens’ program in Parachute, volunteering many hours and calling for the bingo games on Saturday nights.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Terry Allen, by two brothers, one sister and his parents.

Mr. Stone is survived by his wife, Fern Stone of Parachute; by a son and daughter-in-law, Mark and Bonnie Stone of El Paso, Texas; by a brother and sister-in-law, Kenneth and Betty Stone of Cottonwood, Ariz.; and by four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rifle Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
