Lawrence Edward ‘Onk’ Banks

Lawrence Edward Banks, formerly of Basalt, passed away in Littleton July 1, 2008. Lawrence was born Nov. 1, 1939, in Colorado Springs, to Frank and Mary (Lyons) Banks. Lawrence moved with his family to Basalt in 1946. Lawrence graduated from Basalt High school in 1957. After graduation, he spent time in the Roaring Fork Valley before moving to the Denver area. He was a 46-year member of the Pipe Fitters Union Local 46. Lawrence married Bonnie Hagerty Nov. 28, 1970. Lawrence is survived by his wife; daughter Roxanne (Darren) Malia; sisters Laurine (Rusty) Ford of Glenwood Springs and Betty (Larry) Hicks of Idaho Springs; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by brothers Robert, Kenneth, Paul and Larry; and an infant son.Memorial services were held July, 19, at First Presbyterian Church of Littleton.
