Lawrence M. Holloway

Lawrence M. Holloway was born on Jan. 25, 1922, at the home his grandfather built in Glenwood Springs.

His mother, Judge Marie Shelton Holloway, and his grandparents provided a wonderful childhood of fishing, skiing, riding horses and playing sports in the mountains he loved.

During World War II, Larry served as a combat engineer in the Army. After the war he earned degrees in engineering and law from Syracuse University.

As part of a varied career as an attorney for the Navy Department in Washington, D.C., Larry practiced before the U.S. Supreme Court and the U.S. Court of Military Appeals.

After retiring, Larry moved back to his childhood home here in Glenwood.

Larry died peacefully at Valley View Hospital in the early morning of May 2, 2009.

He is survived by his children Linda and Craig.

His wife, Joyce McCarthy Holloway preceded him in death.

Services will be held at St. Stephen’s Catholic Church Thursday, May 7, at 10 a.m.
