GLENWOOD SPRINGS, Colo. A man has filed a lawsuit against the Roaring Fork Transportation Authority three years after an alleged accident.Grand Junction attorney Keith Killian filed the lawsuit against RFTA and one of its bus drivers April 16 on behalf of Dewayne Briscoe.According to the complaint, Briscoe says he was hit from behind in an April 2004 incident in the Aspen area. He said he was stopped in his 1995 Range Rover facing south on Maroon Creek Road waiting to turn left onto High School Drive when the driver failed to stop the 29,000-pound bus. Briscoe’s Range Rover was struck by the bus traveling about 15 to 20 mph in a 20 mph school zone, the complaint says. The complaint says the driver was negligent in the manner in which he drove the bus, which caused Briscoe damages including stress, injuries, inconvenience, medical expenses, the impairment of quality of life, permanent physical impairment or disfigurement, loss of access to employment and loss of earnings. It asks for an unspecified amount of money to be determined at trial.Briscoe’s Range Rover had Idaho license plates at that time, the complaint says.Contact Pete Fowler: 945-8515, ext. 16611pfowler@postindependent.comPost Independent, Glenwood Springs Colorado CO
