Leela Muhme, 103, of Glenwood Springs, passed away Oct. 21, 2008, at Grace Healthcare.Leela was born March 22, 1905, in Cass County, Mo., to William Wesley and Alice Amella (Amerine) Chase. She married Edward Muhme June 1, 1922, in Loveland. They had seven children. Leela dedicated herself to her family, working as a mother and homemaker all her life.Leela is survived by sons Clarence Muhme of Glenwood Springs and Henry Muhme of Canon City; daughters June Dortch and Ruth Barber, both of Glenwood Springs; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 14 great-great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband; son August Edward Muhme; and daughters Mary Muhme Frantz and Edna Muhme Weskamp.A memorial service was held Oct. 25 at the Farnum-Holt Funeral Home in Glenwood Springs. The Rev. Michael Ingersoll officiated. Interment followed immediately at Grand Lake Cemetery in Grand Lake.
